| Magical Birthday Cake
My First Cake It's my mothers Birthday today October 1,2004 so I thought I would make her a cake(German Chocolate,with Chocolate icing) while she,my father,grandma and several friends went to eat at the classiest place in town. My Mom had on a beautiful dress and looked like a princess.I love my Mom,she is so Cool. I had a store bought mix which I added water,eggs and oil to. But obviously, I needed to have 2 small pans to bake it in...well...I found only one seeing as where my mom keeps her pots and pans is a complete mess. So I went next door searching for another pan. No luck there. Went back inside my house. I gave up and said to myself "you know what? I'll just use one pan!" I filled it up with the batter and the batter came right to the edge. I knew it rose when it baked but I didn't know how much it was going to rise. I kept checking on it and when I did,it was really tall,had a cross cut in the middle with liquid batter coming out...I knew something was a little odd so I asked my brother to come look at it. 'no it looks fine,its looks really good.' he said. ok fine. So I left it and kept checking on it. The batter never spilt over but did look like a volcano erupting. So as time was running late and I knew they would be home soon, I took the cake out of the pan. When doing this, it fell apart but only in the middle..how did I fix that? Well..I waited for it to cool then I put tons of chocolate icing on it. It looked yummy. It still looked like a volcano..but yummy nevertheless. So I wrote 36 on it with white icing and made little spikes everywhere with a butter knife(which I learned from my favorite channel-the food network!) I thought it looked very good. So my mom came home,sees the cake and is surprised! She was very happy and gave me a hug..I felt so proud! We sang Happy Birthday to her then she blew out the 6 small candles I put on it.She didn't even notice the big Three that was lit so as she blew it out that was the one she wished on. We cut the cake and everyone said it was delicious.My Mom asked me how I made it and I told her with that pan over there.."Where is the other one?' she asked.."well Mom,I couldn't find it so I just stuck to one." She looked very surprised and thought it couldn't be done. I made it work! She was pretty impressed and everything turned out well. My first cake and it was a hit!
