When  your Recycle Bin Doesn't Recycle
RECYCLE BIN

Damaged or Deleted INFO File
If the INFO file is damaged or deleted, no files appear in the Recycle Bin. However, the renamed files still exist in the Recycled folder. Even though the files in the Recycled folder have been renamed, they are not changed in any other way. For example, a text file is still viewable as a text file. To restore such a file, you can manually search for the file in the folder and rename it.

If the INFO file is deleted, it is re-created when you restart Windows. If the Recycle Bin becomes damaged and stops functioning, deleting the hidden INFO file in the Recycle folder and restarting Windows may enable you to again access files in the Recycle Bin. The INFO file is a hidden file. To delete the INFO file follow these steps:

1.. Open a command prompt window
  2.. Type cd recycled
  3.. Type attrib -h inf*
  4.. Type del info
Damaged Files in Recycled Folder
No files may appear in the Recycle Bin if the files in the Recycled folder are damaged. If this is the case, create a copy of the Recycled\ Desktop.ini file in another folder, and then delete the entire contents of the Recycled folder. Then, restore the Desktop.ini file to the Recycled folder. Note that doing this deletes all files in the Recycle Bin.

If the Desktop.ini file is not present or is also damaged, it can be recreated by adding the following information to a blank Desktop.ini file:
     [.ShellClassInfo]
     CLSID={645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
    Damaged Recycled Folder
The Recycled folder itself can become damaged. Files are moved to the folder and the Recycle Bin on the desktop appears full, but you cannot view the contents and the Empty The Recycle Bin command is unavailable. Deleting this folder and restarting Windows will re-create this folder and restore functionality:
1.. Restart to a command prompt.
  2.. Type attrib -s -h recycled.
  3.. Type del recycled.
  4.. Restart the computers.

Q. Ok,here goes I will try to make this clear as possible.I have a Compaq Presario running factory installed Window's Me,I had a 17 inch Compaq monitor with built in microphone that had to be replaced.I now have a Compaq monitor 15 inch that looks like a 17 inch with no Microphone built in.I purchased a Labtec headset with Mic.I plugged it into the speaker and the sound comes through fine.
How do I get the Mic to work.?
It has another VERY short plug-in that will not reach the Mic outlet on back of computer. Is there a extension adapter I need and is this suppose to be plugged in behind the computer where it says Mic???The headset has two switches, one has a picture of OFF Mic and one is ON Mic.I have it turned to MIC and still when I breathe in it it makes no sound at all.I also of course cannot record sound clips as I did with the old monitor with built in mike.No directions to speak of came with headset. At the moment I miss my old monitor with built in microphone.
Any help appreciated.
TY.
Ok,I just figured it out.Slow brain tonight.I found the answer right here, and everything is working fine,

Behind The Mic.
The support system for a microphone can compose many different parts, including the sound board that the microphone plugs into and the software that determines sound characteristics to the specific application you’re using the microphone with and the speakers that the sound comes out of. One of the most basic parts, though, is the one you should check first: the cable, and particularly the port that it plugs into. Examine the microphone cable and make sure it is in good shape. It shouldn’t be frayed, laid bare in places, or bent at such an angle that it looks like it might be damaged.

It’s also important that you firmly plug the microphone into the right port (a device, resembling a plug-in, that allows access in and out of a computer for cables) in the back of the computer. Sound boards will usually come with a variety of port options, including jacks where you can plug in a microphone, headphones, speakers, and other devices. Make sure your mic is plugged into the right place (usually signified with a little microphone picture), and while you’re back there, check that any speakers you have are also plugged into the correct jack. Follow the speaker wires out to the speakers, checking to make sure they aren’t damaged. If your speakers require power to run, make sure they’re plugged into a power source and that any applicable switches (or volume controls) are turned on.

It finally defraged but scan disk is stuck at 3 notches

The system restore would not work and hung.Said it could not restore after reboot. Now it will not even start up.It will not finish scan disk either.I took the defrag off set and go.Especially for now. When the system restore was activated so did the defrag.
Speed Buster downloaded with out permission as a system update and I uninstalled it and seem to have had problems every since. It changed all my browser settings and homepage.

Well,I cut out the DSL,I cut out the VS,it still is stuck. It scans D drive very fast.Just hangs on C.Took picture of it.Disabled System restore because it didn't work, just now enabled it again.I am going into windows program files and see if anything looks odd.I also ran spy-bot and cleaned up those annoying memory takers.Leftovers from Speed Buster?Total Velosity.

Well,I finally researched this and manually started the PC in safe mode. That is something I have never done before. It finished the scan on C and D very fast and corrected a few errors in outlook.dlx boxes and then I did a complete scan of the C drive and it just finished.Notice the time.I slept, read and meditated while this was going on.No errors.
To get to safe mode, reboot your computer,as it just starts hit the F8 Key.

To get to the list of things to do in safe mode hit F-5.

You can work safely on your computer from here.
