| Our view of (Gilbert Suarez) alleged meter man (2005) and Indicted in the IRS Monroe County Jail scam in Key West and Miami courts.
A man who generated a lot of revenue for the City of Key West during the 10 years he worked for them. A man acquitted in the IRS scam on all 4 charges on December 17 th 2010. He spent over a year in the Monroe County Detention Center. On April 6 th 2011 he was found to be in violation of his probation and sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison. He is now serving his sentence in Northern Florida. |

| Proof's in the pudding.
If there was money or if there had been money which everyone believes we would have had a lawyer that everyone said we needed. They said we had little chance going up against the USA and there expertise and big money. Aurora Fagan is a tough lady. Are you the type of person that believes only what they read and hear. Hearsay has taken on a entirely different meaning too me. Folks let me tell you something. If you don't see it with your own eyes or hear it with your own ears and it involves something as serious as this is,if you repeat it you are a hearsayer. We did not gain from it,enjoy it as all the mistaken media reports that insist on saying we did. They keep insisting Gilbert stole enough quarters to go from here past the seven mile bridge,that is a lot of money.They keep saying he stole $300,000 from city coffers in this instance alone without anyone noticing over a three year period, what's that say about city accounting practices? Gilbert had less then a few months to go on his probation. He fullfilled all that was asked of him. He would not knowingly risk his probation for anyone or anything. Why is there the vindictiveness in this Bubba world of Key West,Florida. Where IS the money? Why wasn't it able to be proven from the City's top people that the money was actually missing from the parking meters. Gilbert saved the City of Key West when he was superintendant.He was well liked and respected. Disgrunted employees that he had fired wanted to retaliate. The intensive investigation found no proof. Why,I ask again because there may have been quarters. It is a fact they were wheeled into various banking institutions on a dollie. They could not prove they came from the parking meters. Sometime you may have to admit that possibly you could be wrong about this man? The politics of this City leave much to be desired. It is not any different then corruption in the large cities in our great nation.It's just small town here and politics demand respect. They do not want to admit defeat at any cost. But,railraoding someone to there liking is not what our great nation is suppose to be about. Not guilty until proven innocent is what the judicial system is all about.He was not proven guilty in the city meter drama nor this one with the Monroe County Detention Center IRS scam. Perhaps looking into why all of this was allowed and look at the ones that were employed at the time at the Monroe County Detention center would answer more of all our questions. Only 8 indicted out of hundreds.Only a few charged and sentenced. A few plea deals and one person's promise to cooperate with the Federal government. Sentences of six months,a few years of probation and restitution. These are facts. Not hearsay. |
